Bobbine Berden has always been drawn to textiles – especially clothing. Fabrics, colors, patterns – it’s her way of speaking without words. Getting dressed is a daily ritual, a playful search for texture and mood. But during her (very critical) fashion education, something shifted: the world doesn’t need more clothes. Or more accessories. It needs new stories, told through what’s already here.
That’s where her work begins. Bobbine gives new life to old garments and forgotten materials. She scales things up, makes them strange, useless even – and that’s exactly the point. In 2022, she launched ECHT NEP: a label of plants made from leftover textiles. Not meant to survive, not meant to be practical – but rich in memory and meaning. Soft sculptures, stitched from worn-out clothes, each with its own quiet past.
ECHT NEP is her way of honoring what’s been worn, loved, and left behind. It’s not fashion. It’s a soft rebellion.
